RS Christmas Dinner Recipes

Doug's Ham-Linda Fillmore
Buy a Cook's brand bone in ham (butt portion has fewer bones than the shank portion, but both will work fine). You can find them at Smith's or Albertson's. Cover the ham with water and bring to a boil. Turn the heat down to low and simmer over night. The next morning, dump off the water and when it is cool, take out bones and fat and shred.

Make a paste out of brown sugar and mustard. Use about 3/4 bag sugar and 3/4 of a big jar of mustard for one ham. The color is a little more brown than yellow. Adjust it to your liking. Make sure you have enough sauce. You don't want it too dry. Mix in with the ham and bake in the oven for two to three hours at 300.

Cheesy Potatoes-Linda Morgan
1 small onion
1 cube butter
1 can cream of chicken soup
1 can cream of mushroom soup
2 cups cheese
8 oz. sour cream
30 oz. bag of shredded potatoes

Melt butter and onions in saucepan. Add soups, stir in cheese, mix well. Turn off heat and stir in sour cream. Add potatoes and mix. Put in a 9X13 pan, cover with foil and bake for 45 minutes at 350. Remove foil and bake another 20-30 minutes or until bubbly.

Easy Green Beans-Beth Liechty

4 cups milk
Layer four:
Additional Cool Whip

Mix crushed Oreos with 6T. butter and press firmly into a 9X13 pan. Refrigerate about 10 minutes.
Beat cream cheese with 2 T. milk until well blended. Gently fold in 1 1/4c. Cool Whip. Spread over crust.
Pour 3 pkgs. pudding into a large bowl. Add 4c. milk. Beat with wire wisk for 2 minutes. Let stand a few minutes until thickened. Pour over cream cheese layer.
Drop remaining Cool Whip on by spoonfuls and spread to cover.
Refrigerate for at least 4 hours.

Great Opportunity

From Shanell

A few months ago, I read this article from BYU Magazine, about Dr. Geoff Williams who travels to poor countries and performs life-altering surgeries on children with facial deformities. I was so touched by his work, in particular, the fact that he now extends his missions so that he can take the time to train local doctors so that they can continue on this important work. See the brochure below.

I thought of my sister and knew she would love to attend one of his 'missions'. I believe she will go to Phillipines in February with Dr. Geoff Williams and others who will be assisting. If I recall correctly, he has plans for 3 missions this year. And we aren't talking about 1 week 'feel good' service missions. They go for several weeks, and work long hard hours.

The reason I wanted to spread the word, is that I know that this foundation is legit. I know that the funds are being used carefully and wisely. I know this doctor really does come home and live with his parents in between so that he can save more money to go back out (my sister has spoken with his mom!).

They are always needing funds, so this isn't just a Christmas request... I think it would be a fun goal to earn $250 for one child's surgery! If anyone needs more information, they can contact me and I will help as much as I can!

BICYCLES

BICYCLES

We have two 20" wheel bicycles we want to get rid of, one boy's (orange and silver) and one girl's (purple). The tires probably need some air and the seats need tightening. Of course they need to be dusted off, but other than that they are in good condition. Contact us at blautumn@hotmail.com

Thrifty Thursday--all projects

Glass Labeling (sandblasting)

You must bring your dish(es) to the church for sandblasting. Font choices are below. These are small stencils for labeling purposes. Stencils are made backwards so the words can be seen through the bottom of the dish. You will pull out the letters to make the stencils and do the sandblasting. A support group leader will be at your side if you are nervous about the blasting.

Each stencil costs 50 cents.
